It’s important to properly clean the inside of your RV. Our guide covers key steps for cleaning your RV’s bathroom, kitchen, and bedrooms.
Cleaning the Bathroom
The bathroom of your RV requires some special attention to get it clean and sparkling. There are a few things you’ll want to be aware of. Firstly, don’t use harsh chemicals to clean surfaces: the surfaces in your RV bathroom can be easily scratched, so use gentle cleaners like a vinegar and water spray solution. Mop the floor every few weeks and use glass cleaner on your mirror.
The toilet can’t have large items flushed down it. Fill the bowl with water and cleaner, then use paper towels and gloves to wipe down the bowl, disposing of the towels in the trash. You can also try to find a smaller RV-specific toilet brush if you prefer. Flush and fill the toilet a few times to remove traces of soap and disinfectant. Try to clean your toilet once per week.
Scrubbing the Kitchen
RV kitchens will get dirty, just like any kitchen, and keeping them clean is essential for food safety. Wipe down your counters and stove every day after cooking to prevent build-up from happening. If you do have build-up on your stove, make a paste out of water and baking soda to apply to the grime, letting it sit overnight before you wipe it and rinse it away.
Remove old food from the fridge and wipe down all the shelves. Clean up crumbs and sticky spills as soon as they happen to prevent pest infestation. Wash your dishes and put them away after each meal to keep them from piling up. Sweep the floor every few days.
Freshen Up the Bedroom
If your RV mattress seems a little musty, why not freshen it up with some baking soda? Sprinkle baking soda on the mattress (after you’ve removed the sheets to wash them, of course!) and let it sit before you vacuum it off. You can use a spritz of lavender essential oil or another scent you find relaxing to make it smell nice.
Keep extra bed linens on your RV so that you can change the sheets every few weeks on longer trips. Put your laundry away promptly so that it doesn’t pile up in the bedroom and try to dust every week or so to cut down on allergens.
